BHLDN2

Every festival bride knows that her wedding day look isn’t just about what she wears; it’s about how she feels and the ambiance she creates: romantic, unique and free-spirited. She embraces her individuality and expresses it through both her own ensemble and the special touches that she incorporates into her wedding day.

When it comes to finding a wedding gown with this same relaxed, Bohemian feel, vintage-inspired lace makes for the perfect choice. Here to help Festival Brides find the perfect romantic lace wedding gown and accompanying accessories is one of BHLDN’s expert stylists, Claire Stepherson.

“Whether it’s head-to-toe lace, eyelash trim, or intricate lace applique, this ultra-femme fabric can be key to creating an ethereal, boho-inspired look,” says Claire. “The Marivana Gown and Matilda Jumpsuit are examples of two different all over lace styles that can serve as a blank canvas for creative accessorizing. The Georgia Gown and Mia Dress, on the other hand, need only a few special accents to create a complete bridal look.”

BHLDN9

The understated elegance of this all over lace gown by Tadashi Shoji is a classic. Pair it with a statement bracelet, an eye-catching headpiece and a great pair of strappy sandals for a look that is elevated yet relaxed…..

BHLDN16 BHLDN12 BHLDN15

For the festival bride who pushes convention aside, the corded lace Matilda Jumpsuit is a breath of fresh air in the bridal world. Its deep-v scalloped halter neckline and wide-legged, toe-skimming hem create the perfect foundation for adding just a few refined accessories.

BHLDN10

A great pair of chandelier earrings, a pair of closed toe pointed pumps and a simple sash (for some added waist definition!) are all you need to bring this boho chic look full circle.

BHLDN13 BHLDN11 BHLDN8

With a touch of Old World romance, the Georgia Gown features an illusion neckline, lace applique, tulle overlay, and delicate scattering of sequins. Its soft silhouette and eyelash lace lend a feminine air that pairs perfectly with delicate pearl jewelry and sandals.

BHLDN4 BHLDN6 BHLDN5 BHLDN7

Festival brides are meant to stand out in the crowd. The tiered, ivory lace and gold metallic overlay of the Mia Dress make it a refreshing, of-the-moment showstopper she’s bound to fall in love with.

BHLDN2

To maintain its majestic appeal, try pairing this dress with a gold accented headpiece and nature-inspired clutch. For brides looking to add a little more sparkle to their wedding ensemble, opt for a delicate crystal bracelet or shimmering heel.

LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_1004 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0954

We had a lovely time checking out the new launches from some of our fave brands at London Bridal Fashion Week at Old Billingsgate Market on the 17-19th May, with fashion and wedding ‘tog Natalie J Watts in tow. Some collections had not even been shot at the time so you could say our images are exclusive sneak peaks!

First up we saw the total babes Alice and Hannah, that are the award-winning cult womenswear brand Belle & Bunty – before we even saw the dresses the whole deal was on point. Palm wallpaper, Fleetwood Mac playing, a peacock chair – can these guys be any more bridal cool?

LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0610 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0611 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0614 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0618 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0620 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0662 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0663 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0666 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0718

The new bridal collection, a mixture of gowns and separates which launched at the show, is called A Piece of My Heart. It continues their much sort after elegant cool style with overtones of soft meets sexy that their signature look exudes, but with plenty of nods to 1960’s and 70’s rock genre style icons. Think Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell meets city bride and you’re on the money.

As the girls say…

‘Combining clean fluid lines and clouds of silk, the collection encapsulates the aesthetic of a free-spirited Bride that is carefree and bohemian in feel yet still retains an air of confidence, romance and mischievous charm.’

Sound like anyone you know??

Belle & Bunty’s model tried on a few new peices for us, including the loose lacey Babette that can be changed up depending on what colour slip you wear.

Then the Brooke top and Scarlett skirt, modest from the front but with a beautiful scooped back.

We fell in love with the embroidered Birds of Paradise detail on the Marlowe dress too. So beautiful.

Prices start from £1450. Get involved guys!

We think you are going to be SUPER into the lookbook images as well. Nailing it left right and centre ladies, stepping into the zeitgeist between boho and grown up chic in your cowboy boots rather perfectly!

Terry Fox had some new whimsical fairytale-like treats with the Siren Song 2015 collection. Check out the embroidery on this gown (dusty pink no less) and beautiful tiered bolero. A slammin’ ceremony show stopper that would translate into the evening with ease, for flopping and flouncing around a meadow at dusk, like a perfectly overdressed Rolling Stones WAG. Wonderbar!

Next up was a new find for us that had our jaws on the floor! Ritva Westenius merged the modest simple look with the embellished and beaded dream with two piece numbers like the silk and sequins combo, entitled Mauritious seen here. Pictured with uber cool RW team member!

LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0728 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0732 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0735 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0733 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0756

Alongside billowing kimonos, graceful lace skirts and flirty open silk shirts, we spied and particularly loved this beaded back chain detail too.

LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0737 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0738

Another must mention is Charlie Brear’s brand spanking new collection that was a lesson in the simple relaxed look with t-shirt dresses, cropped separates and pocketed skirts. It was launched at the show and we loved it! We were also a bit too obsessed with the graphic motif raffia screen but now is not the time..

Their model rocked a few numbers for us with ease, with a little ad hoc styling of cropping the slip top under the latest loose lace Augustine overdress, for a bit of midrif action.

Hard to decide which was our fave – the ankle length washed satin t-shirt dress (named Paita) with powder blue heels?

LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0821 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0824 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0828 LondonBridalFashionWeek2015_0834

Or this dropped waist skirt with Palm embroidery and matching top? (Both entitled Livonia if you want to get googling)

I think it’s gotta be the drop waist palm leaf look – it created the type of stirrings of wanting to wed again that have never happened before in a whole 7 years!

As if by magic, walking past the stand was a completely arresting Spanish hottie in this crocheted gown.

After stealing her for a few images, we followed her around the corner which lead to the Barcelona-based Yolan Cris, the creator of this knock out dress!

The range is a veritable wonderland of glam boho drama and bling, as well as some completely fresh white cotton pieces too including fringed sleeveless waistcoats, rope tie wedges and skirts called Frida – need we say more.

This girl just ‘gets us’ ya know. The lovely Ann Marie is half British-half Filipino and a little something exotic permeates through her work as well as uber simplicity and a focus on geometric forms and inspiration from the natural world.

Less is often more with her work, with minimal veils and tiny head bands as well as a smattering of more statement pieces such as succulent fascinators and goddess-like headdresses.

A newbie on the scene, Ann Marie launched the alternative bridal wear company in December 2014, which includes hats, head pieces and veils. She is currently working on her 2016 collection, inspired by the film The Wicker Man and will include wheat, tulle and preserved flowers. Sounds like something we want to be on board with, watch this space!

Alternative Photoshoot At The Keeper And The Dell: The Inspiration

Afternoon Lovely Peeps,

Back in September 2014, the lovely Lolly from Norfolk wedding venue, The Keeper and The Dell, posted a comment on their Facebook page calling all wedding creative peeps alike to get in touch if they wanted to be involved in the most epic alternative styled wedding shoot which they were planning at their venue for Summer 2015. Being HUGE fans of their wedding venue (as in I want to get married their fans) we jumped at the chance of being involved. The Keeper and The Dell is such a unique outdoor wedding venue with its quirky style and secluded countryside location. It would provide the most perfect backdrop for an alternative wedding shoot so there was no question in our minds that we had to be involved.

Forward to the 28th May on a day where the sun dipped in and out of the clouds (perfect shooting weather) and 48 of the industries most esteemed alternative wedding suppliers gathered to begin work on what was promising to be a fantastic shoot.

Festival Brides are lucky to be the UK Blog to have exclusive coverage of the shoot as well as all the behind the scenes shots and the shoot video. We are also excited to announce that Grace Loves Lace, Daughters of Simone and ASOS provided the stunning dresses and suits – you can see now why we were so excited to be involved!

We will be sharing the full shoot with you imminently and we will also be posting some sneak peeks this Friday so make sure you check back in!

In the meantime I thought I would share with you some of the inspirational images behind the shoot just to wet your appetite for what really is going to be a styled wedding shoot feast!

Daughters of Simone and Daisy & Elizabeth’s ‘Fool For You’ Bridal Lingerie

We’re getting a bit steamy on Festival Brides this morning! If you are still on the hunt for your bridal lingerie or you’re looking for something comfortable yet sexy to lounge about in both on the morning of your wedding or the morning after (wink wink) then look no further beautiful brides to be.

The wonderful US bridal label Daughters of Simone have teamed up with lingerie designers Daisy & Elizabeth to create an effortlessly cool lingerie and lounge wear range with the bride and bridesmaids in mind. Think sexy underwear, boho-chic kaftans, pretty body suits and cool tunics all with an emphasis on making you, and the favourite women in your life, feel comfortable yet sexy on the morning of your wedding.

Launching their “Fool For You” collection with this incredibly sexy and flirtatious shoot, Daughters Of Simone tell us how it all started……

_MG_0069 _MG_0188 _MG_0358 _MG_0446 _MG_0482 _MG_0490 _MG_0518 _MG_0680 _MG_0695 _MG_0700 _MG_0732 _MG_0738 _MG_0760 _MG_0767 _MG_0787

Upon moving to New York, from their native California, Brit & Ash of Daughters Of Simone met fellow brooklynites and cool-girl lingerie designers, Daisy & Elizabeth. Both sets of chicks came from distinctive brands; Daughters Of Simone boho/hippie children, while Daisy & Elizabeth more the American-country twang. During the infamous New York winter months the four began spending their evenings and afternoons designing what would be their first collaboration together. Something for brides and bridesmaids to wear while getting prettied up for the big day or under their dresses. It had to be cute but of course sexy. It had to be a little Americana and little bohemian. But most of all, something outside of the traditional “bridal robe” box.

Four pieces comprise the, “Fool For You’ collection; a bra and panty set, body suit, a bridesmaids “getting ready” tunic, and a gorgeous cotton embroidered Kaftan perfect for the bride. The collection shoot was inspired by just having fun with you girl friends the morning of, passing the time by drinking whiskey and playing cards. It takes place in Ashley’s (of Daughters Of Simone) Brooklyn loft.

After weeks of planning, sketching, fabric shopping, and concept planning the collection was ready to be shot. Along with a slew of talented artisans we crammed into Ashley’s Bushwick, Brooklyn loft and began a day of loud rock & roll and much needed whiskey drinking (to make up for the ever-ending 30 degree NY weather).

As photographer Jenm Senn clicked away magic in-sewed. With the combined efforts of a all female cast, plus the videography team of The BANG BANG Theory, “Fool For You” was born.

Morning Lovely Peeps,

You may remember a few weeks ago we mentioned that one of our favourite bridal labels, Australian brand Grace Loves Lace, was heading over to our blighty shores for their first ever UK trunk show. This exciting event was put together to give UK brides the opportunity to try on and purchase their beautiful french lace dresses in person for the first time – something I would have given my left arm for when I was planning my wedding!

This morning at London’s Clerkenwell Gallery at 10am, they opened their doors for their first day of appointments with UK brides. We are so excited to have them here in the UK and are even more excited for the brides who were lucky enough to get an appointment.

To celebrate, we thought we would share with you their amazing campaign shoot for their ‘Untamed Romance’ collection which launched in March.

Captured beautifully by Kane Skenner and featuring stunning images of the Australian landscape, this shoot really does epitomise the wild and untamed heart of Grace Loves Lace and their gorgeous dresses….

Where Romance Hangs Inexorably

Grace Loves Lace: In a land adorned with the ghost of Australian legends and the vivid, inebriating landscape, we sought to showcase our proud Australian heritage. It was in this consuming and magical place we breathed life into a redefining collection of impeccable textiles and luxurious silhouettes. Over the four days of shooting this campaign, we went only where horse would go and where man dares to adventure. Our team became family as we embraced the harsh and magnificent alpine Australia elements together, to manifest this visual repast.

We invite you to become enamoured in the days where man and horse were one, where romance hangs inexorably in the air, and where the beauty of the wild dominates. We invite you to be captivated by Untamed Romance.

An Enchanted Brides Shoot in a Cornish Cutting Garden….

enchantedbrides-8 What’s up, you guuys!

Boy, am I psyched to show you today’s incredible styled shoot! With a super sexy model (her tatts and that hair colour, I mean!), an amazing setting and our of favourite photographers of the moment, Enchanted Brides (whose style is just SO on point for our Festival Brides!) and this shoot was always gonna be insanely cool, but really, it’s insanely cool AND THEN SOME.

We absolutely adore the concept behind the dress too, I can hear you boho brides now: ‘Who’s the dress by though!? Who’s the designer?!’

Girl, you are looking at an up-cycled 70s dress! Designer Christine Trewinnard bought a rather reserved vintage dress for a mere £30 from ebay and then customised it into this ridiculously sassy two piece bridal set. I can’t even deal with the coolness, plus hello? Super rad to recycle: eco-friendly and budget friendly [clapping hands emoji x 10!]

Let’s kick things off with the venue then: wanna pick your own wild flower bouquet? Of course you do! Read on babes…

A Cornish Cutting Garden….

The dream at Cornish Cutting Garden is to create a place where people can pick flowers, learn about creative organic cultivation and relax in this quiet corner of Cornwall.

Be inspired by our contemporary floral and garden design and our use of flowers that stimulate the senses through scent and texture. Understand the ethos of the Cornish Cutting Garden …. a place where every member of the community can get involved in a new approach to cultivating. Combining old fashioned methods with upcycling and contemporary eco-products.

A Gown makeover with fairy godmother wisdom…..

Sue White: Whilst an admirable word and excellent concept, ‘recycling’ is not one that comfortably stands next to a wedding gown. ‘Up cycling?’ possibly better, ‘pre-loved?’ getting warmer. ‘Re-modelled?’ that’s nearly the one.  However, none of them really convey the essence of this recent gown-makeover by Christine Trewinnard Couture.

Starting out as a 1970’s wedding dress featuring long cuffs, a high yoked neck, romantic frills and tiers with ruffles down the back; the dress has been treated with fairy-godmother type wisdom, experience and a sprinkling of magic to create a gown for today’s belle of the ball. By reducing the volume in the skirt and persuading the ‘cover it all’ top to be a little more risqué, our belle has a personalised creation designed to celebrate, rather than hide, her wonderful body art.  Not at the cost of fashionable style either – despite the forty year time gap, look out for tiers and ruffles (but not the cover-it-all aspect!) in the latest bridal trends.

In traditional Christine Trewunnard style, two pieces allow for further versatility with the merest hint of carbon in your wedding slipper footprints as you re-combine or re-use separates.

We know, you’ll risk a raised eyebrow here and a palpitation there, but this gown transformation demonstrates that, whatever your desire, there’s always a way!

Current Mood: A Very Autumnal Wedding

F6 Happy Friday, you guuuys!

Boy, do I have a treat in store for y’all this afternoon! I don’t know about where you are, but here in the Midlands the air is crisp, the sun is shining and the leaves are falling; Autumn is well and truly here and I, for one, am LOVING IT. So, I thought we’d go ahead and embrace this season full throttle and create a very Autumnal mood board.

Now, let me just warn you: if a gorgeously warm colour palette ain’t your thing, or you’re not a fan of lusciously full wedding dresses or snuggling up in a faux fur cape and, hell, maybe you’re just not that into toffee drizzled, cinnamon sugar baked goods… Then you should probably look away now! (Seriously though, are you ok? Like, in life in general, are you ok?!)

Otherwise: girl you’re gonna lose your mind!

For everything cosy, luxurious, spiced and indulgent, just keep scrolling!

C2

Warmth & Depth

The Autumnal colour palette. Seems like a good place to kick things off, right?

This season is all about the change in colour. From the bright pops of Summer, Autumn sees a transition into warm, earthy hues and dark, deep plums.

So, whether it’s your bridal beauty look – think warm blushes, strong brows and a brown smoked out eye look – or your bouquet, opt for shades of amber, contrasting with pale creams and deep berry tones. It’s rich, it’s indulgent and it’s perfect for an Autumn wedding.

C1

C5

C3

C6

C4

C7 Seriously, though!

It’s just elegance personified! Right down to those gorgeous plum bridesmaid gowns. We heart, big time.

Now, did somebody say baked goods?!…

F1

Baked & Caramelised

Oh yes! Of course Autumn is about food; it’s a time to snuggle up and treat yo’self!

Nothing says Autumn like the flavour of toffee; be it drizzled over a luxurious, date-filled wedding cake, or covering a baked apple, it’s Bonfire night in a sweet!

I mean, can we talk about those smoked salted caramelised apples below?! I mean, would they not make the most divine favours?!

Love the natural twig, Love the sprinkling of sea salt. Love the slate board presentation.

Ticking ALL our boxes.

F7

F2-5 Left: Wedding Ideas Mag  Right: My Baking Addiction

Then, naturally, there’s the baked goods!

They’re sweet, they’re spiced and they’re sure to keep your guests warm and satisfied!

From apple pie pops, to pumpkin whoopie pies, to cinnamon sugar donuts; we’ll have ten one of each and we’ll have them delivered, please!

F4

F3 Serve them with a hot beverage, and you’ve really got our attention.

Hot apple ciders, Amaretto hot chocolates… I could go on, but it’s only midday, sooo let’s move on!

Now, what does one wear to her Autumn wedding…

D1

Collared & Full

We are loving, no let me say that again, LOVING the elegant stand-up collars we’re seeing on dresses this Autumn.

Add a scalloped edge to the neckline, a beautiful, intricate lace and throw your hair into either a topknot or a full fringe and you’ve got yourself a timeless, yet edgy bridal look that’s totally fitting for the season.

To say we’re besotted would be an understatement. No words!

D2

D5

D3-6 Left: Indulgy  Right: Hey Wedding Lady

That said, if a collared look isn’t your thing, then look to the season for inspiration.

Autumn’s the season of harvest, of plenty and abundance, and your dress should say just that too. Go for layers upon layers (upon layers, upon lay…) of chiffon, with pleated pieces for a full, luscious looking gown that’ll blow gracefully in the October winds.

For real though, prepare to swoon…

D4 I know, right?! I fell off my chair (no joke) when I came across that dress on Pinterest!

The earthy, multi-tonal layers are just incredible; she’s like a storm flying down that corridor! Fierce!

Next up, there’s only one thing you need to keep those shoulders warm at an Autumnal wedding.

FF1

Caped in Faux

You see fur; you hear Winter wedding, right?

Wrong, ladies! Autumn, you hear Autumn! I can’t think of anything better to keep your shoulders cosy, introduce even more warmth to your palette and look chic as hell for an Autumnal wedding.

How to avoid looking like the all wintery and Queen of Narnia? Opt for shades of brown, Scarlett or even Khaki and choose capes or shawls over a full jacket.

FF2

FF3

FF4 And why not?! Pair your faux with a dark red nail, hey maybe even a richly colour dress too!

You do you, boo!

Next up, it wouldn’t be Autumnal without that gentle crunch underfoot…

N2

Leaves & Squash

You think Autumn, you think leaves.

That beautiful change to orange and reds, the rustling sound underfoot as you stroll through the woods… If you’re hosting an Autumn wedding, it’d be criminal to not include a leaf or two!

Throw them as confetti (be it whole leaves, or punched into sweet shapes) or coin a leaf motif to run throughout the day… However you do it, you’re sure to introduce colour, texture and a nod to one of the year’s most glorious changes.

N3-9 Left: Chic Vintage Brides  Right: Makezine

N8

N7 Calligraphy leaves; ’cause paper is so last season.

And of course, Autumn wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for the humble squash.

Mix up pumpkins, squashes and gourds of every size, shape and shade to create a divine Autumnal display. Adorn them with your menu, incorporate them into your table decor (the miniature white ones are just the sweetest) or even have guests sign them in place of a guest book!

N4

N1-5

N6 There’s so much potential and pumpkins remain so on point this year… There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say, but it’s true, nevertheless!

And finally, nothing says Autumn quite like a bit of dark, moody photography…

M1

Sultry & Shadowed

There has been an influx of shots like this on Pinterest recently and we are LOV-ING it.

Photographers are drawing all those shadows out, they’re dimming the brightness and they’re increasing the depth. The result: darker, moody shots, longer shadows and silhouettes galore!

These shots are perfect for an Autumnal wedding. They’re atmospheric, they leave an element of mystery and they reflect the drawing in of the light. Perfect.

M2

M6

M3

M4

M7

M5 They’re, like, beyond sultry! We LOVE!

So, if you’re in the final throws of planning your Autumn wedding, or if you’re just starting to form ideas for next Autumn, head over to our AUTUMNAL WEDDING Pinterest board for more of the same glorious seasonal warmth!

Have a rad weekend, babes, and we’ll see you on the flip side!

Wild Heart Bridal CGP-53 Morning babes!

OMGSH. So, if you could choose any two humans to help you pick out THE dress (You know, that perfect dress: perfectly bohemian, yet high fashion, perfectly suited to your body and your style…) who would you pick?!

WELL, let me tell you, you won’t go far wrong with a super cool, yogi who used to work for a luxury fashion brand and a published style and fashion blogger! I mean… #DREAMTEAM

Meet Nicole and Alex, sisters and owners of The Wild Heart Bridal boutique…

Tell us a little about yourselves…

We are Nicole and Alex, sisters from Kent, with a career background and true love for fashion, style and culture. In 2015 we decided it was time to pursue our dream and open a bridal boutique with a difference.

Before the boutique, Nicole was working as a Commercial Analyst for a luxury fashion brand but left to work with the brides of Kent. Nicole is also a yoga teacher and elements of this “free spirited Yogi” can be felt throughout the boutique.

Alex is a personal stylist & fashion blogger who has had bridal fashion articles published in local style magazines and trips to Paris with an International accessories brand as part of her styling career.

As well as fashion we both enjoy going to festivals, holidays in the South of France, Ibiza and Dubai, walking our crazy dogs Snowy Bear and Blossom and a large glass of red wine.

If you had a chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?

For Alex it would have to be Coachella in California. I’m not the best camper but the idea of listening to music underneath the palm trees with the sun shining and a cocktail in my hand sounds right up my street! Celebrity spotting and leaving the wellies behind sounds even better.

For Nicole it would have to be Glastonbury, I’ve just got tickets for next year which will be my 6th year running. I love Glastonbury because it’s such a diverse festival with the best artists. There’s so much to see and do, you feel like you’re in a new little world separate from real life!

What made you decide to start The Wild Heart Bridal?

We both struggled to find fashion forward, modern wedding dresses when we got married and so decided to open a bridal boutique of our very own to help fashion loving brides, like ourselves, find what they are looking for.

We both have children now and so were also looking for a business that could work around the children, whilst doing something which we are really passionate about. We hope we’ve delivered a boutique that our families can be proud of and it’s good to know we’ve got 3 little staff members waiting in the wings!

2015 / 2016 Wedding Dress Trend: Floral Textures

$

M1 Afternoon, babes!

Boy, have I got some serious pretty to share with y’all this lunchtime. We’re taking a look at one of the hottest wedding dress trends for the later part of 2015 and right into 2016 too: Floral Textures.

Whether it’s a heavily detailed neckline, a sprinkling of blooms down your back, or all-over texture, adding flowers to your dream wedding dress checklist is a must right now. We’re gonna explore every possibility, including gold and jewelled detailing and, of course, our much beloved blush dresses!

So grab yourself a coffee, sit back and simply soak up this utter gorgeous from start to end…

M24

Floral Mesh

Let’s talk mesh.

Oh yes LET’S. We’re self-confessed mega fans here at FBrides. Mesh allows that sassy sheer element without having to over-bare on your wedding day and it helpfully provides a platform for illusively free florals.

From an entire body covering to sheer sleeves with blooming cuffs or florals to hide the essentials (we see you daring brides, and we’ve got high fives for you!).

We are all about that mesh life.

Witness the fitness:

M25 M29 M10 M4 M3 Like, really though?!

Does it get any more luxe than this? No. I’ll answer that for you!

Weddings have been about wearing your flowers for a while now, (you guys have heard of a flower crown right?), but this is next-level gorgeous.

Floral Layers

Texture is the word. And for 2015/2016 we want it all.

Layers upon layers of fabrics, it’s a multi dimensional piece that appears almost alive with movement and depth.

It’s a sensation. These dresses are so tactile and such an art form, they’ll fascinate and they’ll hold the gaze of admirers. They’re intricate in the best possible way.

L12 S5 L11 S15 L7 The finest delicacy.

They’re exquisite heirloom pieces that’ll floor the girls in your family for years to come #Legacy

Floral Sparkle

If you’re all about that textured, layered look, but you need your dose of sparkle, then girl of course we got you.

From sequins to crystals, pearls to beading; flowers can be created from almost any kinda sparkle, and my goodness does it make for a gorgeous piece…

J6 SP33 SP23 Catch the light right, and you’re wearing the most gorgeous glittering garden.

Pair a heavily embellished body with a layered chiffon skirt for laid back cool-girl sparkle, or hit up all over embellishment for the ultimate show stopper.

Floral Back

You guys KNOW we love back detailing (read more on that lover affair here) and needless to say, a floral back is high on our list of must haves.

I mean, just look…

BA20 BA18 BA16 That last one has something a little bit ‘butterfly’ about it too, dontcha think? #Adorbs

So, whether it’s a pretty design inlaid in mesh or a three dimensional chiffon creation, just say ‘yes’ to the floral back, pair it with a simple, dishevelled up do or lob length hair, and a played-down front of the dress and you’re sure to stun.

Floral Golds

This is just divine. Everything you love about Floral Texture, turned to gold.

It’s a hint of Gatsby, with a natural fairytale floral edge that makes it perfectly bohemian and perfect for the Autumn/Winter bride.

We like our gold over sheer fabrics and with extra sparkle, please.

G34 G32 G31 Beautiful, right?

The deep amber tones are so Autumn appropriate, but paired with the mesh sleeves, the dress is delicate and elegant.

Swoon, swoon hard.

Floral Blush

A match made before time began, surely? Blush and Floral Textures.

Here at FBrides we are invested in the blush wedding gown (like seriously, we’ve spent a lot of time dreaming on this concept!). It’s the perfect alternative for a bohemian bride, it compliments almost every skin tone and it’s such a soft, gentle choice for a woodland bride…

Check out our Pinterest board THE BLUSHING BRIDE. for everything you need to know about this shade.

And in the meantime, enjoy these beauties…

BL43 BL38 BL37 BL42 BL39 BL40 BL36 BL41 BL8 Dreamy.

Whether you choose something with additional colour, or go all-blush-everything, layers upon layers or delicate fabric are a must to create the dimension of those blushing blooms. Pair with played-down makeup and let the dress do all the talking.

Floral Blues

Still searching for your ‘something blue’? Here it is, ladies!

We fell off our chairs when we stumbled across this backstage shot, an almost entirely transparent skirt over an elegantly loose-fitting, sleeved white body, paired with copper sandals and finished with those electric blue blooms?

It’s Blush’s electric, playful younger sister…

B30 Wow. I can’t deal.

If electric isn’t your vibe though, then take your Floral Blues to a beautifully mermaid-esq washed out place, with layers of chiffon and embellishment…

B19 There are no words.

Just keep swooning.

Floral All Over

This is for the ‘go hard, or go home’ gals among you:

All Floral Everything.

Take your Floral Textures to a higher place and embrace all-over blooms.

We love them sheer, we love them short, we love them as separates…

A26 A22 A14 A13 H28 H17 H9 H27 Holla at me, girls!

Are they not just everything your dreams are filled of?! I genuinely cannot find an adequate adjective to express the sheer lusciousness of this trend.

Hearts for eyes, all day and all night. (Yes when in doubt, revert to emojis to express oneself!)

Have yourself a chill day babes, MWAH!

Black Forest Luxe – the Dark Side of the Wedding World

32 Morning gorgeous creatures

So, you might’ve noticed the appearance of a new pin board on our Pinterest feed. A board that, you might say, I’ve been paying a fair bit of love and attention to this last month, a favourite child if you will. And you’d be right, I am utterly obsessed and have fully immersed my senses in the trend for black weddings…

In short, I’ve moved over to the dark side, guys! And let me tell you, it is chic AF over here.

This midnight shade is made even deeper, even more sumptuous with the addition of luscious berry tones: ripples of raspberry, sultry plums and rich scarlets all working in harmony to juxtapose the crisp black. It’s certainly not a colour palette for the faint of heart, but if you want to be daring, if you want to intrigue, then the inimitable chic of Black Forest Luxe is sure to capture your heart…

43b 43 43a …And this is where it all started, my friends!

For me, The Reformation‘s Opera Bolero in the shade Aubergine set against that gorgeous black dress was the start of this obsession mood board.

That sumptuous shade, with the luxurious velvet creating that multi-tonal dimension all set off by her crisp black silhouette…

D’you feel me?! It’s just downright sexy.

And there’s a hell of a lot more where that came from! Behold…

1 5 4 28 3 10 25 2 There’s so much beauty to be found on the dark side, no?! And we’re just limbering up here, babe!

As far as wearing the midnight shade is concerned, I’m gonna make it easy for you: we love it all and we love the bride bold enough to wear it…

From the super sexy, almost mysterious wrap-around veil she wore, to a simply black ribbon to tie up her dishevelled waves (very Parisian chic), to the black diamonds gracing her finger to the textured black dress, in all its sheer (and I mean that quite literally) glory, with that deep plunging neckline; anybody would think this bride were making a statement…

Hell yeah she is.

7 6 33 8 13 12 11 Screen Shot 2015-12-01 at 22.14.34 42 theeverafterstory Left: Free People Right: The Ever After Story

14 15 16 17 21 Then of course there’s the dark side of decor.

Ohhh man, I don’t even know where to start.

Lit only by the flickering light of candlesticks atop black cast iron holders, the table is littered with oversized Karma Chocolate Dahlias and inviting raspberry linen napkins.

Stationery is swept with lavish crimson inks, and opulent gold calligraphy glints from the black menus at each place setting. Heavy matte slate serving platters contrast with the shine of brassy gold goblets…

It’s a feast for the senses, a richness and intensity that fixates guests and indulges them in all it’s mysterious depth.

20 19 18 9 22 Of course, photographers have had their glorious way with this trend too.

Shots are getting moodier, shadows are longer, darker, more drawn out.

The effect is magnificent and sheer satisfaction: textures of florals are brought to life, intimate moments are captured at dusk; the darkness brings a perhaps surprising warmth, a gentle softness to the focus, yet maintains drama and oozes style in abundance.

Good lighting is desirable, but sometimes only a little lighting is perfection.

23 40 24 29 27 26 30 31 36 35 And don’t think that your wedding food will abstain from this trend…

Dark is the new delicious, guys!

From midnight macarons (*obsessed*), to dark, espresso infused chocolate frosting.

Ice cold drinks, in bowl-like tumblers garnished with blackberries and bubbles infused with Cassis.

A scatter of foraged, sweet roasted beetroots or a midnight feast on a platter of dark artisan chocolate…

It’s our every temptation, our every decadent desire.

34 38 39 41 I just can’t deal.

Everything about this mood board gives me LIFE.

In my mind, it’s hands down the most incredible way to host a winter wedding right now. The depth and lusciousness seems so appropriate for the season, while also managing to totally avoid any preconceived stereotypes of a winter/Christmas wedding. I mean…

Welcome to the dark side, guys, can we tempt you to stay a while?

Festival Brides Love: Hila Gaon Haute Couture Wedding Gowns

freya B 1 4 What up gorgeous brides-to-be!

We have such a treat for you on the blog this afternoon. If you’re that bride feels you’ve looked at every wedding dress, every designer, every styled shoot, every shape gown you can get your hands on and you’ve still not found quite what you’re looking for, then meet Israeli haute couture wedding gown designer, Hila Gaon.

From the moment we saw Hila’s collection we pounced on the chance to share her gowns with our favourite people (you’re welcome ;-)) and show the rest of Britain just how dreamy her collection really is!

Side note: if you’re a bridal boutique owner in the UK that’s interested in stocking Hila’s incredible gowns, drop us a line at advertising@festivalbrides.co.uk and we’ll hook a sister up!

For now though, let’s chat to Hila and prepare to ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ uncontrollably at this stunning designer’s work…

Freya B 15 1

Tell us a little about yourself…

My name is Hila Gaon. I’m a 44 year old Israeli haute couture wedding gown designer and a mother to 5 year old, Itay.

I’ve been a fashion designer for 20 years, and have been designing wedding gowns specifically for 11 years in my own studio in Tel Aviv.

I spent my youth in Paris. My amazement of the city’s unique style drew me into the world of design and when I got back to Israel I started fashion design studies at Shenkar College in Tel Aviv and, in time, I also lectured at the textile design faculty.

Web Hila Gaon Studio, Tel Aviv, Israel

freya-lev-14 freya-lev14-2

If you had a chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?

Music is my favourite pastime. Marina Maximilian, an Israeli artist, especially is an amazing performer, so I guess I’d just love to see her live!

What made you decide to start Hila Gaon?

Over the years, many of my friends have gotten married and I helped out in their search for the perfect gown.

After seeing all the wedding dress designers and failing to find exactly what my friends were wanting, we started looking in regular stores, thinking maybe a simple white dress will do, but we couldn’t find anything that met the brief. The dresses all seemed too plain.

Eventually, I was the one who designed their gowns. I understood what they wanted from the start – and that’s how Hila Gaon was founded!

Freya-Pilatis-14-2 Freya-plastic--14-2

Tell us a little bit more about your wedding gowns…

My designs are all haute couture wedding gowns.

I use only high quality fabrics. The primary fabrics are various kinds of silk chiffon, silk crepe and silk tulle. The laces are either Solstiss (French lace) or one-of-a-kind vintage pieces from genuine antiques I collect.

My line is very romantic and delicate, designed for brides who look for a fashionable easy going look.

Hemera li 15 (2) Hemera li 15 hemera-papion-B hemera-shirt-15-(2) hemera-shirt-15

What are some of your favourite memories + experiences from previous brides you’ve worked with?

Creating a haute couture wedding gown is a process I love to go through with each bride.

The most fun I ever had was with a bride named Liat. She was easy going, calm and so much fun.

If our readers were to order one of your dresses for their wedding, what can they expect?

Brides I work with enjoy the fruits of my 20 years of experience in designing for the feminine figure.

Every dress which carries the Hila Gaon name was carefully designed and tailored, with the best fabrics in the world.

hemera-top-15 Hera lace 15 (3) hemera-U-14-2 hemera-U-14

How do you know if a Hila Gaon wedding gown is right for your wedding?

A wedding dress should reflect the bride’s personality. It should be comfortable and stunning at the same time.

When a bride finds her dress, she knows it’s “the one”.

What’s your best piece of advice for couples who’re trying to choose their wedding gown?

Choose a designer whose style you can relate to and who you trust.

The wedding gown is often the most important thing for a bride – it’s what everyone will be looking at, what she will wear the entire night, and of course what she will remember for the rest of her life.

A Summer Haze – A Bohemian Styled Bridal Shoot in The Peak District

$

0040

Afternoon Lovelies,

We have such a beautiful bohemian styled bridal shoot to share with you today. Brought to you by bridal designer Kate Beaumont and photographer Shelley Richmond, this gorgeous summer shoot combines the natural colours of the location, which includes wild heather, the muted purple and peach of the bouquet, the pink of the brides hair and make-up and the gorgeous haze of the summer sun. It is a perfect example of how the romance and colours of a natural setting can be used to really showcase the beauty of a bride, groom or both. As Shelley and Kate illustrate through this shoot, if done correctly, the result can really be quite striking.

Kate and Shelley are both based in Sheffield and have been working together over the past year on a set of editorial photoshoots inspired by the seasons. Today we are sharing their Summer Haze shoot which features several different looks with Kate’s Peony Separates (which we LOVE), her Anemone Lace Dress and her Camellia Silk Slip.

Kate and Shelley talk us through the aim of the shoot and each individual look…..

0004 0005 0006 0007 0012 0013 0016

A Summer Haze…..

Kate: “For our Summer Haze shoot Shelley and I created several different looks with my Peony separates, Anemone lace dress and Camellia silk slip.

We echoed the pink and purple palette of the Peak District’s heather covered hills and Izzy’s vibrant pink hair for our first look. Peony’s gathered polka dot tulle skirt was worn with a metallic pink top and big pink knickers which peeked through the sheer layers as the wind rippled by. We switched the top for Peony’s original boldly pattern lace T-shirt top, worn sheer over a back crop top. (Both Peony pieces would usually be worn over the Camellia slip.)

In the meadow we dressed Izzy in my Anemone all over lace dress – creating a more classically bridal look with this delicate and elegant gown.

Anemone is worn over the Camellia slip, and we took off the lace dress for our second meadow look.

Izzy wore the beautifully simple Camellia silk satin slip, accessorised with an amazing floral necklace worn backwards accentuating her bare back above the curved V of Camellia’s back neckline.”

Shelley: “For me these seasonal shoots have been about exploring the seasons with nature as a backdrop, we wanted to give brides ideas and inspiration for seasonal looks with Kate’s dresses that would work perfectly for outdoor festival weddings set amongst nature. We wanted to keep the shoots simple and beautiful, all about the bride, the dresses and the season.”

So what can we expect from the 2016 Collection….

The 2016 collection is a step away from the warmer hues seen in past collections. With a cooler toned palette, designer Gaby Bayona takes the 2016 collection into a direction of creamy ivories, frosty embellishments, and subtle metallic details. Dove grey chiffon, hand beaded lace and dainty double straps adorn the Alexandra gown (pictured below) which was an instant staff favourite, and proved to be so with Truvelle retailers and brides alike.

Alexandra2_1024x1024

Gaby’s personal favourite, the Carolina gown, features a new bodice style for the brand with unique layers and a fuller, silvery jacquard skirt, which is also seen on the Shannon gown in reverse! Truvelle’s flowing chiffon skirts are seen in both straight and waterfall styles, as well as intermixed with opalescent shimmer, making for a striking stride down the aisle. Both the Madeline and Brianna gowns feature this distinctive and glistening fabric with extra statement finishes of white sequins or a plunging neckline.

The Cara gown is a romantic gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, low back, lace straps and a uniquely layered skirt. For the bride looking to make an unconventional statement, Truvelle’s Bernadette gown is sure to turn heads with its textured bodice showcasing silver sequinned side panels, giving a modern edge to a feminine and classic silhouette. The skirt flows effortlessly from the waist to the floor.

Cara2_1024x1024 Bernadette2_1024x1024

Another fan favourite, the Jordan gown, is delicately dramatic and a fresh take on the Nicolet gown seen in Truvelle’s 2015 collection. The bodice perfectly balances creamy chiffon, silver panels, and luxurious French lace. Jordan can easily be accessorized with a statement belt for a personalized effect, while Truvelle’s silk sashes and grosgrain ribbons add a refined finish to each gown.

Savannah Miller x Stone Fox Bride – The 2016 Bridal Collection

SFB x SM Look 1_17992 1

Happy Friday, foxes!

So, let’s start at the beginning: first of all, we are HUGE fans of the Miller girls (I mean, who isn’t right?!). Yes, of course, Sienna, but in equal measure, her über cool, free-spirited sister, Savannah.

Second? We HEART (like in a borderline obsessive way) American bohemian ‘it girl’ designer, Stone Fox Bride’s Molly Guy. If you don’t follow her on Pinterest, get on board!

Now ladies, let me warn you, what you’re about to witness will probably blow your sweet minds (in a totally good way)… What do y’all think happened when British, chic-while-casj, Savannah, met NYC’s Stone Fox Bride?

Think mellow, meaningful designs, an oasis of bohemian sex appeal all with an undeniably British edge!

Wanna hear more about this incredible collaboration?! You better! Let’s chat to the babe herself, Molly…

SFB x SM Look 2_18052 SFB x SM Look 3_0511 SFB x SM Look 13_18919crop

What inspired you both to get into fashion design, specifically bridal fashion…

I didn’t come from a fashion background. Savannah has her own line with her sister and used to be Alexander McQueen’s assistant, she has the chicest style. I feel like I am a writer first and foremost, but when I was looking for wedding dresses back when I got engaged I couldn’t find something cool. I was overwhelmed by the pomp and circumstance and the ugly fluff at all of the places I looked. We both are really into fashion, great design, gorgeous gowns, and foxy women.

Who is a Stone Fox Bride…

A Stone Fox Bride is someone who feels good in the skin they’re in and wants to show that off at their wedding, whether its in a vintage high neck lace Edwardian dress or a slinky silk gown a la Carolyn Bessette.

SFB x SM Look 3_0557 1

SFB x SM Look 6_0662

How do you approach creating a wedding dress…

Inspiration is huge here at SFB. We take breaks from work to pour over magazines, Pinterest, books, newspapers, you name it. We have a huge mood board in our office that’s ever changing. There’s really more of a feeling behind each of our dresses, we know it’s a hit when we all get goosebumps at the thought.

How did the collaboration between you come about and what’s the inspiration behind the collection…

When I was googling wedding inspo back when I was planning my wedding – we didn’t have Pinterest, I literally was Google imaging dresses – I came across Savannah’s hippie bacchanalian wedding.

It was a true bohemian dream and the coolest wedding I had ever seen. I immediately screenshotted it. We connected a few years later on Instagram. I joked around about doing a collaborate because what could be a better match for SFB? She was down and months later we debuted Savannah x SFB – a gorgeous line of dresses that bring together that moody English garden party vibe with downtown NYC chic.

Tell us about the fabrics you chose for the collection…

All of our fabrics are sourced and the dresses are made here in NYC.

If you both had to choose one dress from the collection as your favourite, which one would it be and why…

I love the Lyra, the sexiest silhouette in a dreamy velvet. Perfect for a New Year’s wedding.

Where can our UK brides find out more about the collection…

As of right now we don’t stock in the UK, but stay tuned…

What are your trend predictions for bridal fashion in 2016…

Simple. We’re moving away from layers and crazy silhouettes. The fabrics will speak for themselves. Here at SFB we’re really into embroidery and clean lines for the upcoming collection.

Which song best represents the collection…

In the Pines – Nirvana

What’s the best piece of advice you can give a bride when it comes to searching for that her dress…

Come with someone you really trust and who makes you feel beautiful, but will be honest with you. Stay hydrated, only do a couple appointments at a time, have a good lunch in between, and don’t start drinking until you’re done.

And at the end of the day, screw everyone else; it’s your dress.

Finally, what is your life quote or mantra…

The love you take is equal to the love you make

The Dree

SFB x SM Look 13_18881v2 SFB x SM Look 13_18916

Everything. Literally EVERYTHING about this collab is just so, so right!

For real though, if I was getting married right now, I’d be all about the Bali! That train down the back has me, heart and soul!

Which is your favourite? Drop us a comment, we wanna know! In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted about SFB‘s arrival in the UK. Like you, I’m sure, we’re beyond excited about this brand!

Have yourselves a sweet weekend foxes, and we’ll see you the flip side!

Our 2016 Ones to Watch – Bridal Designers From Across the Globe

Title Aaaand it’s finally Friday!

I don’t know about you guys, but I am on my third coffee and my second chocolate brownie today and the weekend cannot come quick enough! To get this weekend off to a killer start, we thought it’d be ace to share some of our favourite bridal designers, set to rock 2016.

From France to Tel Aviv, from dark ethereal to kooky feminine, we’ve got a designer for every kind of festival bride and so without any further ado (because I am literally champing the bit to get started!) let’s kick things off with potentially my new favourite bridal designer, like, ever

French Cool: Donatelle Godart

Ok, so y’all know that in some other life I was Parisienne, or at least, I hope I was! It therefore probably doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that we’re starting our little bridal style journey in France, with Donatelle Godart.

I was absolutely captivated when I first saw the shots from her lookbook: hazy, dreamy, natural and just effortlessly cool… An exact reflection of her dresses.

You’ll find poetic shapes, inspired by the likes of Jane Birkin, in fluid silk and lace. They’re fresh, feminine and just everything an it-girl boho bride could want in her gown.

DG4

DG3

DG2

DG1 I mean, just take me there.

I can’t even begin to choose a favourite, although ‘A Clear Midnight’ and ‘Song at Sunset’ are STRONG contenders, but, let’s be real here, they’re all strong contenders!

Bohemian Elegance: Lihi Hod

Our next stop is Israel, where designer Lihi Hod (who’s worked with Dior and John Galliano, just, yah know, FYI!) has had our jaws on the floor since the moment we laid eyes on her 2016 collection.

From the ultimate in long-sleeved backless elegance, to short numbers with playfully feathered skirts, Lihi’s collection is ticking all our boho boxes (feathered, backless, embellished, cropped tops… They’re all there!) but with a timeless and super feminine vibe that we really dig.

LH1

LH4

LH5

LH2

LH3 Lihi’s gowns just speak a language entirely of their own.

No addition adornments needed and you could skip the fancy updo if you’d rather leave your tresses au naturale and you’d still look an absolute goddess in a Lihi gown!

Dark & Ethereal: Odylene the Ceremony

We discovered this incredible brand in the latter part of 2015 and were simply blown away. I’ll let them tell you about their Romantics Collection, as they do it oh-so well!

“With an ethereal and free-spirited approach to bridal, the first collection is simply called: The Romantics Collection. Each of the dresses embody the deep emotion, sensibility and beauty of the life and art from the 1800’s. Our collections tie in the feelings of the traditional foundations of marriage to the exotic and unfamiliar, while harnessing the power of the imagination to envision and to escape. The ethereal element is ever present in each style with a twist of romance and deep appreciation of all the delicate moments of the ceremony.

We have a simple mission. To create a dream like state in reality of the strong expectations that you may have on one of the most special days of your life. We believe there are so many literal details of the day you say ‘I do.’ There are so many aspects of your wedding day that are bold and bright and in your face. We want to focus on the undertones of everything else. The undertones that are there but are more part of the senses that come to you in a memory in the way a butterfly lands on a flower. The ceremony is curated for the bride that understands that the standards are meant to be pushed, and the limits should feel endless. Nothing is more spiritual that the day you stand before everyone and ‘I do.’ We want to share in that part of your world and bring out the ethereal moments that exist. In our ethereal sphere there lies no reasoning, no typicality, no explanations, no realism, no comparisons, nothing ordinary, and no normalcy. Our mission is to help you leave all of those things behind.”

OC3

OC1

OC2

OC4

OC5

OC5a Inspired, aren’t they?

Just everything about this incredible brand resonates with us, from the Ceremony’s ethos to the dreamy designs themselves, they’re a full embodiment of the free-spirited and that’s something we can really get on board with!

Kooky & Feminine: Maison Floret

Taking a return flight back to France to meet this über fun bridal brand, Maison Floret.

Now if you’re looking for something totally alternative, something you’ve never seen another bride wear, without losing that ‘bridal’ feel or going too far out, Maison Floret is the brand you’ve been dreaming of!

With plenty of top and skirt combinations (although don’t expect to find all crop tops) this brand oozes casual chic. You’ll find delicate ruffles of chiffon on a dropped waist gown, exquisite little knits (à la Olivia Palermo) paired with slender skirts and the occasional stand out piece, like that incredible wool cape!

MG1a

MG1

MG2

MG3

MG3a J’adore!

It’s alternative, but, in true French girl style, it’s beautifully underplayed. Maison Floret, you have our hearts!

High End Folk: Yolan Cris

Ohhh my. We have been LOV-ING Barcelona’s bridal brand, Yolan Cris, for quite some time now, but when they released they 2016 Boho Folk line everything stopped.

Replying to emails, sipping my coffee, maybe even my heart for a moment! EVERYTHING stopped!

With their 70s inspired silhouettes, luxuriously sheer materials and major folksy vibes, Yolan Cris are making dreams come true with this collection.

It’s just the perfect blend of bohemian character and luxe style.

YC1

YC2

YC3

YC3a

YC4

YC4a The silhouettes these guys create are just magic.

They’re daring and elusive with a clean modern edge, while still expressing the relaxed bohemian depth we know and love!

Ooph, Yolan Cris! Y’all are inspiring!

American It-Girl: Houghton NYC

Our next stop is NYC.

I mean, of course, we had to take a stop there, and for none other than the ultimate it-girl brand, Houghton.

If you’re looking for edgy, SUPER fresh bridal designs that are pushing boundaries and challenging tradition (hell, they’re throwing tradition straight out the window!) while remaining super chill about it all and looking hella gorgeous, Houghton is the brand for you guys!

My personal fave has always been their Galina gown, (below) and I don’t think that’s about to change, but these guys are constantly creating the most incredible new shapes, employing materials you wouldn’t expect (the fringing, OH the fringing!) and just stepping outside of that ‘bridal’ box.

H3

H2 Show stoppers, aren’t they?!

Like, Houghton create gowns that go down in history, guys!

Delicate Goddess: Mira Zwilinger

Staying in the US for our final designer, Mira Zwilinger‘s 2016 Stardust collection is delivering on the fantasy gown front for all you dreamers out there.

This is fairytale at its absolute finest.

It’s sparkle, it’s elaborate, it’s glittering and celestial. In her words, “it’s a celebration of divine femininity”.

MZ2

MZ3

MZ3a

MZ4

MZ1 The stuff dreams are made on, no?!

So, that concludes our 2016 Bridal Designers to watch! I mean, hear me right here, there’s nothing at all definite about this list, these guys are just a handful of all the incredible designers we know/love/enjoy, but their collections have pressed some very specific buttons for us so far this year, so we just had to share!

Which bridal designers have you guys been loving? Do you have a favourite collection or bridal look for 2016 already? Let us know in the comments below – we love hearing what you guys think!

In the meantime, have a beaut weekend and we’ll see you on the flip side.

BIANCA-1

Tell us a little about yourself, it’s been a while, I’m sure some of our newly engaged brides would love to meet you!

As far back as I can remember I’ve always been drawing and painting, being raised in a family where everybody works with their hands.

I was especially inspired by my mother, who sewed and knitted unique and beautiful things, and I got from her my meticulous attention to detail.

I especially love to embroider with pearls and beads, using the total-look approach, so that the dresses and bridal accessories look like one complete composition, complementing each other.

How was 2015 for you? What’s new with Petite Lumiere?

2015 was quite an amazing year, as I’ve had an opportunity to work with most wonderful brides around the globe.

It was also a very creative year. Inspired by my lovely customers, I’ve designed two new collections for 2016: the “Music Room” and “PURE”.

What was your 2015 anthem, the one song you fell in love with for the year?

2015 was all about rediscovering the classics. Janis Joplin definitely was my fave, particularly “As good as you’ve been to this world”.

bianca-3

So tell us more about the new collection, what was the inspiration?

For the “PURE” collection I’ve drawn inspiration from the sophisticated geometric silhouettes of the late Sixties as well as the daring, feminine and boho chic looks of the Seventies.

Special attention was given to developing cuts which will be comfortable to wear yet glamorous and flattering on women of all different shapes. I achieved this by using A-shaped silhouettes, high waisted designs and gorgeous plunging backs for a touch of drama.

I love designing with longevity in mind, so some of the designs are ‘2 in 1’ convertible, enabling the brides to change the look from day to night, and even to recycle the pieces by wearing them on their honeymoon.

Do you have a personal favourite piece from the new collection?

Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m Ellie, director of my very own little business (Soft Touch Events) and I founded and curate the Indie Wedding Fair. Whilst I wholeheartedly admit I’m a bit of a wedding obsessive, I tend to seek out (and love to style) particularly beautiful ones that are totally unique, have tonnes of detail and personality, are a bit quirky and most definitely are a reflection of the couple getting married!

I’m super passionate about small business and excellent service, I’m very creative, love a bit of crafting, a total magpie (and subsequently own a huge collection of antique, vintage, retro and rustic memorabilia which I hire out). I live near Sheffield with my handsome beau and our beautiful, 2 year old daughter (she really is the cutest!), but I’m often over in Manchester, from whence we’ve recently moved.

If you had a chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?

I’ve fortunately been to quite a few stonkers, including Glastonbury, Leeds, T in the Park, Freeze (I also love the mountains) and Bestival.

Now I’m a (little!) bit older, I quite fancy some of the lower key ones, like Wilderness, Kendal Calling or something that celebrates up and coming talented new indie artists.

It’d be good to take our little’ un to something next year (we obviously have noooo money this year, as we are getting hitched!) …But I hope she will grow to love festivals as much as her dad and I do!

Laura & Ross lovelights pizza mmmm

What made you decide to create the Indie Wedding Fair?

From being 14 (it was acceptable in the 90s, kids…) I worked in an independent bridal shop and florists in my local village, which I absolutely loved. I subsequently larked off to university, graduated, then worked in events and marketing in the education sector, supplementing this with stints in the corporate and private hospitality industries both in the UK and abroad.

It was only when I came to plan my own wedding, feeling uninspired by many of the ‘traditional’ wedding fairs that I noticed a big fat void for rustic, bohemian and festival-inspired couples looking for wedding inspiration, in a truly fitting environment. I was also inspired to create something that didn’t put smaller indie businesses under massive financial pressures to attend an event to show what they can do.

I promptly set out to create this quite different and unique fair (which takes place a month before my own wedding, in fact! Good job I like a challenge, really…)

I genuinely think there is a place for this kind of event, and to repeat and grow it in the future, really would be ace. I’ve had an absolute beano putting it together.

Creating an event from scratch, with just a paddock to play with, allows me to demonstrate to people that you can create something unique and fun with a bit of imagination. And if you are engaged, but don’t have the imagination or creative skills but you know you want something a little less ordinary- you’ll meet people at this fair who can give you some belting ideas!

Tell us a little bit more about the Indie Wedding fair…

It is going to be brilliant, and I’m so excited to invite y’all (my excitement is turning me into an enthusiastic American, clearly).

It is held in five giant interlinked Tipis (by the amazing Tipi Unique!) on a farm in Sale, just south of Manchester and there are loads of awesome suppliers on board! We will have around 50 in total, with no more than three in any particular ‘category’.

It should be an informal, but beautiful environment, full of creative suppliers offering relevant ideas, products, services and skills. It’s not hard sell pushy-pushy (obviously we’d all be delighted to get bookings, it would be silly not to want that!) but the vibe is just a bit more relaxed, welcoming and lower key.

Proper pies and mash from a converted horsebox, stonebaked pizzas and sample canapes from Top Table and freshly ground coffee from the Bean Rover. YUM! And cake, of course to top it off! #winning.

Then there’s an array of brilliant, passionate suppliers…

How can our couples get involved?

They can go to the website and buy their early bird tickets now, which are a mere £4. Tickets are available through Eventbrite’s secure payment handling facility.

There will be goodie bags, free magazines, sample canapes and of course, they’ll have a lovely day out connecting with some absolutely awesome suppliers in beautiful, giant tipis just a stone’s throw from Manchester.

We are also applying for a temporary event licence so there will be a bar, too! Woop!

What’s your best piece of advice for couples who’re planning their wedding?

Have an honest chat with each other and establish what’s important to you both for your wedding and do remember it’s your wedding… So do it your way! You can’t please everyone all the time (so you may as well please yourselves, first and foremost!).

Remember what it’s all about: making a commitment to the person you love most in the world, not about the size of your budget or remortgaging your house to create a Kardashian- rivalling spectacle of an event.

Play it cool, trig.

Finally, what’s your life quote/motto?

That’s a tricky one… I had written something a bit rude, but then thought about it being immortalised in blog form and my ‘rational mum head’ took over and removed it!

I’d say be fair, don’t take liberties, enjoy life, and just be nice to people (unless they’re being a dick, then that’s their problem and to rise above it shows greater strength of character on your part!).

Most of us larking about in the wedding industry, creating beautiful events and memories of a lovely day live a pretty fortunate existence in an environment that’s filled with happy people planning fabulous celebrations, so we should be very grateful for that. Remembering the bigger picture is important too!

Don’t get swept away in the fairy tale; because marriage (and life!) is no fairytale… but you may just get your happy ending!

For those of you new to the scene, Most Curious is ‘THE wedding show for the style savvy couple’. Becky and her team aim to create a space full of style-led ideas, avoiding any labels (vintage, alternative, designer… You know the kind!) they work hard to keep it simple and, in doing so, completely freeing for the engaged couple.

No stereotypes. No traditions (unless you want them!). No limitations.

Put simply, when it comes to your wedding, nothing is set in stone, and the vibe at Most Curious really personifies that; anything’s possible.

…Now, you know me, I LOVE a bit of bridal fashion, and nothing says free-spirited more than a bridal outfit that breaks all the rules, and my goodness, did the Most Curious Catwalk do just that! Check it out, and keep your eyes peeled for one of our all-time favourite pieces, the pressed flower Meadow veil by the totally divine Ann Marie Faulkner

Song: Brother – Matt Corby (available to download here)

This year saw two catwalks at Most Curious…

BOHO LUXE MEETS BOHO MINIMAL: ’70s vibes meet simple shapes and a floral, painterly feel’

…and later in the afternoon…

HEROES: ‘In homage to one of the greatest coolest and creative forces the world has ever known, we go Bowie Bridal, just for one day’

You can see all the incredible designers featured in the catwalk listed right here as well as the amazing floral design by Parragon and hair and makeup by Portraits.

36 But wait!

Heaven forbid I lead you to believe that it was all about the bridal dresses and jumpsuits though, my gosh no!

So, without any further a-do, here’s a few more candid shots (from my loyal, hard-working little iPhone!) to give you a taster of what it’s all about! I’ll link the images to their companies where possible (if my memory will allow!), so simply click an image if you see something you like, but if y’all wanna see a full list of the London Fair’s suppliers featured in the shots, click here to have a read!

15 From the incredible paper-born decor of Things by Laura, to the delicate colour-dipped hanging vases of UBYME, not to mention the awesome styling power of Sorrel & Steve, every corner I turned there was another mind-blowing decor installation to behold!

I also fell head over heels for beautiful pallet furniture of Gas & Air (super customisable furniture hire that’s just PERFECT for an outdoor wedding) and of course I had to mention the lovely gals from Patchwork and incredible online solution to all your gift list worries (need funding for your hen party? Or how about a neat way for your guests to contribute towards your house savings? No problem!)

25 Meanwhile, the photographers were, of course, out in force, with the most incredible stands to showcase their unbelievable talent!

I had the pleasure of meeting FBrides fave, Ed Godden, as well as the lovely Paola de Paola and how could I not mention the amazing VintageBooth.Me (sister company of lovely photographer, Lee Garland) and a new discovery for us, the awesome concept of Boxless Booths!

1 One of the biggest ‘wow’ moments for me at the fair were the incredible floral displays.

Some of the UK’s most talented florists had styled their blooms to the nines and, make no mistake, they were absolutely gorgeous.

I fell pretty hard for the incredibly atmospheric flowers of the Wild Fox, the utterly dreamy headpieces of Sophie and Luna (thanks for the gorgeous pressed-flower confetti!), then there were One Flew Over’s flowers ‘by Girls Who Like Good Flowers’ (the eucalyptus in their arrangement had me with hearts for eyes) and of course the stunning (and I mean stunning) hand picked blooms of the Electric Daisy Flower Farm

SWOON.

8 Just amazing…

If you missed it this year, be sure to get your sweet little hiney down there in 2017, and if London doesn’t work for you, make sure you check out their Norwich show too!

In the mean time, keep your eyes on A Most Curious’ Instagram feed to hear all about their exciting projects – there’s MUCH inspiration to be had!

Peace + Love
